Matt Bartlett’s Christmas could use a little sparkle this year. Lucky for him, his extravagant gay best friend Aedan Gallagher arrives on his doorstep on Christmas morning, bringing with him a much-needed blast of festive cheer. Unknown to Matt, Aedan has been holding a torch for his best friend for years.
Matt and his family have been pulled apart in the last year by his dad’s affair and the subsequent divorce. Now Matt and his younger sister are expected to play nice and share the holidays with his dad’s new family. Aedan vows to stay by Matt’s side, though, no matter what.
As they navigate Matt’s vindictive step-mother and Aedan’s own family trouble, Matt starts to realise that Aedan might be more than just a friend to him. He just doesn’t know whether he should – or even can – take the next step for the first time, because then he’d have to accept something about himself he’s afraid to admit...
Glitter on the Garland is a steamy, standalone MM romance novel featuring lots of prosecco, even more glitter, a reunion with a beloved dog, kisses in the snow and the best Christmas present of all. With a guaranteed HEA and absolutely no cliffhanger.

Tension is such an important part of romance, and Helen Juliet has packed plenty into her debut novel. Everyone knows how stressful the holidays are at the best of times, and for Matt Christmas is especially full of dread since his father remarried. Matt's plight-his father's affair, the marriage to his mistress, his now single mother's decreased monetart status, an emotional younger sister-is incredibly relatable. When his best friend Aedan shows up out of the blue, it throws Matt off kilter, but it seems to be just what Matt needs to knock him out off his holiday rut.
In the midst of the holiday chaos, Juliet creates a wonderful slow burn as the friendship between tge boys begins to reveal itself as something more.
The writing is pithy and fun, yet emotional, and I enjoyed it immensely. I can't wait to read more from this author!

Glitter on the Garland edition by Helen Juliet Romance eBooks Reviews
a beautiful story. young love, coming out. standing up for yourselves even though it might have negative repercussions
I adore Helen Juliet's books. This one made my heart hurt, but then she made it better ♡
Aedan is not only a gypsy but a beautifully brave, loyal and intelligent friend. When his friend, Matt, has family difficulties they take a stand together for what is right. A wonderful YA offering from Ms. Juliet.
This was charming, adorable, and I ship it. Helen handles romantic tension amazingly well and this book is a perfectly paced glide towards beautiful snogging. It's marvelous and I cannot wait for her next book!
This was certainly a story I did not want to put down. From the first page Matt was an engaging and relatable character. I truly felt every one of his emotions. From his lowest moments, to his highest. It was such a splendid experience to be able to follow him on his journey of love and self-discovery.
His other half, Aedan, was a truly unforgettable character. His personality came to life on the page and his struggles were real. By the end of this story I couldn't help but grin as the two of them worked through everything together and gave us the happy ending we want every story, but especially a Christmas one, to have.
This is an exemplary first novel and I'll most certainly be following this author in the future; eagerly awaiting whatever else she decides to share with us.
Split families can make a person's whole world crack apart in a way which can ruin everything for the future, but Helen Juliet managed to capture how finding the right 'glitter on the garland' to add to a new family dynamic can keep the spirit of Christmas alive. I loved how Aedan managed to fit into Matt's life alongside his sister Tilly and his mom Dawn. I loved how Aedan handled the horrors of the step-family home as well as made it a bit more bearable for Matt and Tilly along the way. He even made life better for Dawn while she was alone with his mix tape.
I can honestly say Glitter on the Garland was far more lovely than I expected. I was thinking it would be a light-hearted romp. Helen Juliet managed to perfectly balance the line between too much angst and too much amusement to keep the story wonderfully human throughout. Everything about Matt's first Christmas with his parents post-divorce felt natural. I loved how Helen Juliet displayed the awkwardness of a new family dynamic while still showing how some things never change inside a family. She gave hope for the future for Matt and Tilly and their father's new family even as it was made apparent some things weren't going to get better with time. It was a sobering read with a delightful dash of bubbly throughout to keep me in the frame of mind only brought on by holiday madness. I can't wait to read more of her work and I definitely need my own Stitchin' and Bitchin' group to join.
I'm really happy I stumbled across this one; I wouldn't have guessed this was the author's first publication at all. It's well-edited, the pacing is tight, and the characters all have understandable, realistic motivations and backstories. Juliet even manages to turn a central relationship on its head in the course of about a day and a half, and never does it feel jarring or forced. We get enough information to make everything believable, but never fall off into an info-dump. This was one of the better holiday stories I've read this year. It was a sweet, feel-good, coming-of-age sort of story, and I will read more by this author.
