Bailey Gray is tired of her perfectly planned life. Everything about her life has been organized and lived out to the expectations set of her parents. She is the class valedictorian, has perfect grades, the perfect friends, a perfect boyfriend, basically perfect life...or so everyone thought. That's when she realizes the path planned isn't always the path chosen. On graduation day she makes a decision. One that changes everything she thought she knew about her intended future. On a whim, she runs away with the town rebel, Dylan Wade, in search of the unknown. Dylan Wade isn't looking to run away from anything. He knows what he wants as he's been waiting on it for years. On a journey to find the unknown, they discover a friendship they once knew along the open highway and have not a care in the world. Between the yellow and white lines of the heated summer asphalt, a spark draws them together as Dylan's past and Bailey future try to ripe them apart. Could it be that Dylan and his GTO are exactly what her perfectly planned life needs?

'Dylan was Dylan. He was my first love. Even at seven, I knew I loved him. He was my first kiss and the only boy that mattered back when watermelon bubble gum and the smell of summer were my only thoughts.'

Bailey was the girl with the perfectly mapped out life. Perfect family, perfect grades, perfect boyfriend and a perfect scholarship to the perfect college. But that all changes one morning, one afternoon - while standing on the podium getting ready to give her valedictorian speech she sees him. The boy who was not afraid to tell you to f'off - a boy that once held a special part of her heart. So rather than the typical go for your dreams speech she lets go, she is tired of the perfect, the planned and the life of the girl who doesn't even know who she is.

Confronted by the gasps of shame from her friends and family she sees her escape. Dylan Ward. Him simply mouthing 'come with me' and a slight nod, Bailey jumps in and sets out on a trip where she tries to find who she is with the boy who has been nothing but trouble for the last eight years - but the only one who actually knows her.

The trip begins and although Dylan is closed off she feels safe and part of her knows that the little girl who fell in love with her neighbor all those years ago still loves him. And boy do you fall for Dylan from page one.

Their love is bitter sweet. As she tries to find herself she finds she becomes wrapped up in Dylan. But there is something he is hiding. A secret that could destroy them, and he knows that it will destroy her if she finds out. But it is not his place, but keeping the secret may be something she can't get over. They spend their days driving and their nights pushing the boundaries. She falls in love with him, little by little as he exposes himself.

To say that Dylan was intense is putting it lightly. That boy, oh that sweet boy - he had so much built up inside of him that it was seeping out of him. When he would get to that breaking part, it would just tear you wide open. The author's ability to make you feel everything they were feeling was amazing. You felt like you were watching it in slow motion. There is a moment where he breaks your heart, it's not easy to forgive but you can almost understand.

'Like I said, you don't just fall for someone like Dylan Wade. You bleed for someone like Dylan Wade'

I am always a bit leery with 18 year old romances. I usually find the girl too immature or annoying - but not Bailey. She was controlled her whole life, but took responsibility for allowing it. She was being lied to and even when Dylan was out of line I could see why she fought so hard to stick by his side. She saw that his actions were expected to push her away - shut her down. But that doesn't mean that he didn't lose any points. Knowing things were just going too well I was waiting for that shoe to drop.

And boy did it. the last 10% of this one had me on my knees. I finished this one about four hours ago and it is still swimming around my head.

It seems that the rage for 18yr old Valedictorian's or Girls that have been so perfect and good up to the point of graduation day seem to go off their rockets and decide that enough is enough and that they are no longer going to fit into their parent's perfect boxes and that since they are eighteen, it's time to live their lives and have freedom and to hell... with college and all that responsibility. I have read a few books with this similar theme and of course there's the movies too. Waiting for You by Shey Stahl as I was reading it reminded me of the movie "Crossroads" with Britney Spears, where she has had enough with the world and gets into the car for a road trip with a musician that no-one really knows much about and there are rumours he has been in jail. Bailey Grey just wants to live her life according to her and she has enlisted the help of bad-boy and next door neighbour Dylan Wade to help her as they set off across the country in his car on a major road trip doing city by city. Over the course of the novel, the pair will get to re-know each other as when they were younger they were the best of friends until his mother was killed one night by a drunk driver. Can Bailey get Dylan to open up and can she prove to him that she is the right girl for him and that maybe she doesn't want him to put her on a pedestal ?

This was a very typical girls falls for the bad boy story. Bailey and Dylan have been friends since they were 3, but because of a tragedy (and other factors), they grew apart. Bailey has a life that is planned out for her. She's an 18 year old virgin, who is about to graduate high school when she wakes up decides that this isn't the life she wanted anymore. After an argument with her father and boyfriend, she runs away with Dylan.

Dylan is a bad boy covered in tattoos and is looked upon as the town's rebel. He and Bailey go on the road and try to figure out who Bailey really is. They try new things and get into trouble together. This story is majority told in Bailey's POV, but maybe every 7 chapter or so, you get to hear Dylan's POV.

I loved that Bailey didn't hold back and tried almost everything she wanted. They sexual chemistry between them was evident. It was clear that they were both attractive to each other. Every time they made out or touched each other, I screamed for them to just get it on already! I kind of guessed the twist in the story early on, but it was still a shock.

Besides this being a typical love story, the editing could use some work. There were comma's where they shouldn't have been and reading it was a little hard. Other than that, I thought this story was ok.
